I'm very interested in what people have to say on this as well. I work with SCORE here locally, and would love to be able to utilize some feedback from this community to help us align our mentor matchups with small business owners.

Good evening and thank you for welcoming me to the community. I am looking for a mentor that has proven to be a successful social entrepreneur. An honest, humble, genuine person with an authentic desire to guide and see the mentee succeed. This person should also be knowledgable in legal and income tax matters in addition to financing and grant proposals.

This is a great question. I just joined a mentoring program, and I've found real-world advice has been the most helpful. Agreeing with @Growresponsible that it really helps if the person has first-hand knowledge in the logistics of running a business. This year my business grew enough that I was able to hire subcontractors, and it's been vital to hear advice from people who've made it over that first major growth hump. It's also been important to have a friendly connection with a mentor and feel part of a community.

Hi. I live in Eastern Tenn and I’d love to know how to find a mentor. I’m trying to open a small holistic retreat with a select line of skin care products and a gluten free, handmade paleo power food delivery service. Business financials, marketing savvy, and learning networking techniques are all important traits to me. I could never get score or the women’s business group of Nashville to follow up, so I have no support. Thanks!
